Mould-DRY – performance power consumption

Mould DRY: Output, Coverage and Running Costs in Detail

How much electricity does one Mould DRY heating element use?

A heating element rated at around 50 watts uses roughly 1.2 kWh over 24 hours of continuous operation. Across a month that comes to about 36 kWh if the element stays switched on throughout.

Two heating elements double the figure to around 2.4 kWh per day, three elements to roughly 3.6 kWh. Consumption scales with the number of modules, not with the size of the room.

Important  These figures apply to continuous operation. In practice the system only runs continuously during the main drying phase.

How much wall does one module cover?

Coverage depends on how severe the mould growth is. For light mould or general damp, one panel per 1.5 linear metres of wall is sufficient. For moderate to heavy growth, one panel per 1.0 linear metre is used.

Part metres are rounded up. What matters is the length of the affected wall section, not the size of the room.

How do costs fall after the main drying phase?

Continuous operation is only needed in the first phase, while the wall is still damp. As drying progresses, the system is reduced using a timer switch.

Depending on how far drying has advanced, running time can be cut to half or even a quarter. For a single module that brings monthly costs down to around 6.30 euros or roughly 3.15 euros. For preventive drying alone, reduced operation is normally sufficient.

Why are there virtually no extra costs in heated rooms?

In a heated room the element releases its energy into the room as heat. The main heating system then has to supply exactly that much less to hold the set room temperature.

The energy input shifts rather than adding up. A noticeable increase in consumption occurs mainly in unheated spaces such as cellars or rarely used rooms.

Note  The cost is not new, it is relocated: what the panel uses, the heating saves.

What should be observed during operation?

•  Leave at least 2 to 3 centimetres between the panel and any furniture or textiles, otherwise air cannot circulate and the effect is lost.

•  The unit is splash-proof but must not be operated close to open water sources or submerged.

•  A timer switch is worthwhile for reduced operation after the main drying phase and is included in the premium bundle.

Frequently asked questions & answers

How much electricity does Mould-DRY use per month?

A 50-watt heating element uses approximately 36 kWh per month when operated continuously. Two elements use around 72 kWh, while three use approximately 108 kWh. After the main drying phase, using a timer can reduce these figures to between one-half and one-quarter.

How many modules do I need for a 3-metre-wide wall?

For moderate to medium to.
For moderate to? Let's correct. For moderate to severe mould growth, three modules are required: one base module and two extension modules. For light mould growth, two modules are sufficient.

Does the system run continuously?
  • Only during the main drying phase. Afterwards, a timer is used to reduce the operating time, often to just a few hours per day.
How hot does the panel get?
  • The panel operates at a low wattage and distributes its heat evenly across the wall. It is designed to warm the wall surface rather than heat the entire room.
